This volcano has more than 400 craters, split all over the Catania county .
The drive to mount Etna is stunning , going through several Old Sicilian towns, (santa Venerina, Zafferena) and stopping off to see some of the previous old Lava Flows. With your tour you will reach about 2000 meters (7.000 ft) and start off by visiting the “Silvestri “ craters which were formed in 1986 and move on to see some of the latest lava craters which were formed in 2001-2003.
Through the tour you are also stopping off at a local family agriculture shop and taste some local Enta Wine , a selection of natural honey and
On the way, we will also stop and visit a local family farm where it is possible to taste local Etna wine, a selection of natural honey, fruit of the season, almond pastries, olives and extra virgin olive oil. After that you will also visit one of the best and well known vineyards “Tenuta San Michele del Murgo ” where it will be possible to tour the property overlooking the sea and the volcano and taste some of their local table wine.
Returning towards to Taormina, driving through the pine tree forest you will also stop by Giardini Naxos (first greek colony in Sicily), which is a small sea town.
